Challenge rides are for regular cyclists who have previously ridden up to 80km in groups before and have already climbed and descended at least one 10km climb. We ride as a group and riders can climb at their own pace, it is not a race, its ride for intermediate to experienced riders to ride the cols of the best cycling roads in the world!
In any one day we can climb up to 2 major cols, or we will take a longer route with less climbing. If you have never ridden a long steady climb before then please join an moderate ride where you can learn these skills. If you want to ride a much faster pace for specific training then opt for an Epic ride, self-guided ride or go custom!
Rides are 5 hours long and on average you will ride 70-100km and climb between 300-1500m

“Had a couple of great rides with Cycling cote d’Azur. Really nice people, well organised rides and really helpful with all of our needs and questions. So nice to just cycle out into some of the best cycling country in the world with great guides taking all the stress and worry away, really enjoyed the trips and will return.” Jonathan Jones
“Thanks to Claire and Anton for a great couple of rides in the superb hills around Nice. Well organised, professional and paced everyone really well. And got a few good tips on nutrition and climbing before this weekend’s Dragon sportive. I can see now why so many professional cyclists train around here. I’d recommend highly.” Gareth Morgan
“Just home from 4 days in Nice being looked after by Cycle Cote d’Azur. Perfect early season training runs tailored to our group’s ability and current fitness levels. The Cote d’Azur is a perfect place to train – climate , terrain and proximity to airport. Organisation was first class from transfers to hotel to ride support. Well done and keep up the great work – we will all be back in the near future.” Nick Wood
”I just wanted to say that I had a fantastic afternoon out with your guys back in October on our little excursion up the Col de la Madone. We had perfect conditions and the views on the way round to Menton were fabulous. Our guide John was brilliant, very encouraging and above all seemed to really enjoy himself. Andy who sorted me out with the bike at the shop was wonderful. He could not have been more helpful. It was a nice little leg tester for me as I had not been out on my bike back home for a while, but it did get them working for my little jaunt up Mt Ventoux three days later. Which I was very pleased to do in 1hr 55mins ! I can’t wait for my next visit to our friend in Nice just so that I can book another ride out into the surrounding hills with you guys. It was Brilliant”. Richard Scott
“Was going for a very short trip to Nice and needed a bike and wanted to get some local scenic climbs. I contacted Claire Blackie … And the rest was magic… Had a great 5 hour ride outa the minefield of roads outa Nice that I would never have round myself and up a really scenic series of climbs through villages and beautiful scenery. It was a Wednesday in late Sept so just 2 riders & guide who was English… Relaxed easy going friendly very personal .. The climbs and pace were at a good ‘challenging’ level. I race at home and am fit and fast over shorter distances and 2 hours …this was a good 4 – 5 and I was well outa my comfort zone on the final climb so don’t do challenge if you not used to riding 3 hours plus climbing and done some sportives at least… Claire is great to deal with. Great value. I will see them again. If u love cycling don’t waste ur time trying to find roads outa Nice ..let these guys look after u … Great day out… Thanks guys” – Ronin, U.K.
